Resetting Your Tire Pressure Light
The TPMS system is designed to alert you if any of the tires on your vehicle is under-inflated. When you add the proper amount of air to your tires, the tire pressure light should go off on its own. If it remains on, drive at or above 50 mph for at least 10 minutes and the TPMS system will reset itself the next time you turn on the car. If this doesn't work, try one of the following methods to manually reset the TPMS light:
- Turn the key to the "On" position, but don't start the car. Hold the TPMS reset button until the tire pressure light blinks three times, then release it. Start the car and wait 20 minutes for the sensor to refresh. The tire pressure monitor reset button is usually located beneath the steering wheel. If you can't find it, check your owner's manual.
- Inflate the tires to three PSI over their recommended amount, then deflate them completely. Be sure to do this with the spare tire as well, since it may also be fitted with a sensor. Once all tires are deflated, reinflate them to the recommended tire pressure. This will reset the TPMS system.
- With the vehicle off, disconnect the positive battery cable. Turn the car on and honk the horn for about three seconds to discharge any power still stored in the vehicle. The TPMS system will reset when you reconnect the battery.
